The 1000 Words I want to say about Baramulla Bomber

Recently I posted a review of this very new book by a new writer. The name of the book is Baramulla Bomber and it’s written by Clark Prasad. The review was posted by me on my blog FinixPost for it was part of a reviewing program.  There was a particular line written by me in the review “I can write a 1000 word essay about this book” and believe it or not, but that’s true.

An experience of reading a book starts with the cover page of the book. As you keep flipping the pages, your emotions and experiences change. Sometimes you are awed by the fantastic description of an event, sometimes you are impressed by a character which the book talks about, sometimes you feel a little lost in the world of the book and sometimes you feel disgust for you made the decision to pick up that book.

A book is actually an entirely different world for a reader. In order to experience the real taste of a book, you need to let yourself be free and start the journey. My journey of reading Baramulla Bomber started  by reading the few words which the author has specially left for his readers and then the prologue which according to me is a really boring concept. But this book, to my utmost astonishment, was interesting even in the prologue or you can say I actually understood what was happening which I completely didn’t when I read prologue of The Clash of the Kings by George R.R. Martin.

Then started the real book - The mysterious things happening around the globe, the events which were weird even when they could be completely understood or explained through science, the characters which were struggling to become my favorite along with the ones which were accumulating the feelings of hatred I started developing for them, the plots and plans and much more BEGAN!

 Oh! This book has so much and soon it made me realize that it’s not going to be what I had expected. After all it wasn’t a work of fiction by either Chetan Bhagat or Durjoy Dutta. Someone else had written this and that person, Clark Prasad has really done his research while writing the book. The concept was actually well planned and it was not a work which had come in light just by adding a few ‘masala’ scenes in the actual life happenings of a common man. It was something which had come up because of hard work and passion.

Also, I did realize that I had to read a little slower than my actual pace of reading for it was interesting and the Baramulla Bomber needed me to take in the words at a little less pace and understand what was happening with a deeper presence. And here I got my first bad point of this book – it took so much of time to read. To be truthful, this is the first book I picked up just for the sake of ‘reviewing’. And this really taught me that such a behavior with something as precious as books isn’t going to work.

Books need respect for only then they open the doors to their world. I hope it may not seem like some Greek words to you but I am sure any avid book reader would understand the kind of thoughts I’m trying to put forward. I took this book everywhere I went, college, library, coffee shop and yes, even in bathroom.

There were my friends who had been asking what it was about and who expressed their interest in reading the story of Baramulla Bomber. But hey, grab your own copy for I have rediscovered my respect for books and I’m not going to share any of my books with anyone from now onwards. I’m going to keep them safe for the younger generations. :D

I don’t think I need to tell how much I liked the book but yes, there’ one more thing which made me a little disappointed. Can you guess? Well, I can’t really disclose what made me disappoint for it will spoil the whole fun of reading this Science Fiction Thriller. If you read this book, you would understand. But if I talk about the author’s work, this very point shows his cleverness. He leaves you asking for the second part of this book. Why? Because there are questions which still need to be answered.

Moreover, with the kind of ending I got from this book, I am very curious to know what kind of story would be portrayed in the next one. This is a trilogy – The Svastik Trilogy and you need to read all three books, I suppose to get the answers which one starts asking and thinking about while reading the first book.

Then there are a few things which the book has talked about which really compel me to develop an interest towards Indian Vedas, science etc. but sorry Mr. Clark Prasad, physics is something I have hated even before my birth. I don’t know how I passed in Physics in 12^th and I hate it for it decreased my overall GPA in engineering.  But Vedas, yes, I would like to study more about them, especially because I am an Indian and I need to know.

There are books like The Alchemist which give you far below your expectations and then there are books like Baramulla Bomber which give you far above your expectations. Philosophy and Science Fiction can obviously not be compared but still, I would suggest everyone to read the latter one for sure.

If you’re also looking for a different kind of book, you must try Baramulla Bomber of course and the reading experience won’t be like you’re reading another piece of fiction by another one of the thousands of writers. It’s DIFFERENT, it’s GOOD.

Well, I think the 1000 words are just going to finish and you would probably kill me for writing such a long post, so I should better go and study. By the way, I got 84.5% in the 5^th semester. Let’s see what I get in this semester. :P
